How Indian founders are using DIYPR

Real campaigns. Real journalists. Real coverage.

Data story4 days ago

Inc42 + YourStory · SaaS founder, Bengaluru

Used DIYPR to pitch 12 journalists in one afternoon. Had three replies within 48 hours. One turned into a full Inc42 feature — I just had to answer follow-up questions.

Key insight: Their B2B SaaS story was 'boring' until they added industry data. The angle reframe took 20 minutes.
Funding announcement6 days ago

ET + Mint · Fintech founder, Mumbai

I'd been putting off PR for months because I thought I'd need an agency. DIYPR let me do it myself in an evening. The AI knew which journalists cover fintech funding rounds.

Key insight: Personalisation matters more than volume. 8 targeted pitches got better results than blasting 80.
Founder interview1 week ago

YourStory · D2C brand, Delhi

The journalist database is the real product. I found three journalists covering D2C that I'd never heard of — all at publications my target customers actually read.

Key insight: Beat filtering found niche journalists with higher response rates than the famous names.

How it works

From story to coverage in 4 steps

You stay in control at every step. AI is a tool, not the author.

01

Upload your story

Paste your press release or drop a PDF. You write the words — no AI-generated content.

02

Find the right journalists

Search 3,000+ verified Indian media contacts across 180 publications. Filter by beat, city, publication. Or import your own list.

03

AI writes personalised pitches

One click generates a tailored email for each journalist — based on what they actually cover. You review every draft before send.

04

Send from your Gmail. Track coverage.

Emails go from your own inbox — better deliverability, real conversations. We track opens, replies, and coverage.

Media monitoring built in

Talkwalker-grade monitoring. Without the ₹1L/mo bill.

DIYPR scans 27 Indian outlets + Google News + Reddit every 6 hours for mentions of your brand and your competitors. Auto-classifies sentiment, scores outlet tier, calculates earned media value, and Mondays a beautiful client-ready digest to your inbox. Forward it. Done.

📡

27 Indian outlets + Google News + Reddit

TOI, Mint, ET, HT, BS, Indian Express, Moneycontrol, Inc42, YourStory, Entrackr, The Ken, Morning Context — and 16 more. Plus Google News + r/india + HackerNews.

📊

Share of voice vs competitors

Add up to 5 competitors per brand. See the 30-day mention chart and your share %. Demo a single screenshot to a client and watch them sign.

🔗

Public shareable client report

One URL: glocalpr.diypr.in/report/abc123. Live data, no signup, your branding. Replaces the monthly PDF cycle.

🚨

Spike + crisis alerts every 4 hours

Today's mentions 3× the 14-day average → email lands. Negative spike → flagged as crisis. Real PR shop catches things in 30 minutes, not 24 hours.

🤖

Every mention auto-linked to the journalist

Each article shows 'by Soumya Pillai ✓ — beats: space, climate'. Talkwalker can't do this. We have the journalist database they don't.

📄

PDF export + Monday digest

Weekly auto-email per brand on Monday 9 AM IST with sentiment split, top outlets, EMV. One-click PDF for client decks.

Built for Indian PR agencies who currently juggle Google Alerts + Skribe + Mailsuite + Talkwalker. DIYPR replaces three of them.

Not another AI spam tool

Journalists won't hate us. That's the entire point.

You've seen the news. AI tools that mass-pitch journalists with fake quotes are getting named and shamed. DIYPR is built differently — from the ground up.

You write the story. AI doesn't.

DIYPR doesn't generate press releases. You write them. AI only personalises the cover email so the right journalist gets the right pitch.

Sends from your real Gmail inbox.

Not from a generic SMTP relay. Journalists see your name, your address, your signature. If they reply, it lands in your inbox.

Hard cap: 1 pitch per journalist per month.

Built into the product, not a 'best practice'. You cannot spam the same reporter even if you tried.

Built by people who receive pitches.

StartupTalky has run for 10 years as one of India's leading startup media brands. We've received tens of thousands of pitches. We know which ones work — and which ones get marked as spam in two seconds.

DIYPR vs other AI PR tools

FeatureDIYPROthers (Olivia Brown etc.)
Pitch checks for fabricated stats✓ Built-in fabrication guard flags any number not in your press release✗ Sends whatever the AI generates
Journalist relevance filtering✓ AI matches your story to journalist's actual beat + past articles✗ Blasts to hundreds regardless of relevance
Fake expert detection✓ Shows your LinkedIn + photo in every pitch — proves you're real✗ Journalists can't verify who's pitching

Who writes the press release✓ You — your words, your story✗ AI — journalists can tell, and hate it
India-specific journalist database✓ 3,000+ verified Indian journalists, scraped weekly✗ Generic global DB, India coverage is thin

The unfair advantage: we receive the pitches.

Every PR tool out there is built by people who SEND pitches. DIYPR is built by people who RECEIVE them.

Over 10 years at StartupTalky, we've read tens of thousands of pitches. We know what makes a journalist open one and ignore another. We know which Indian publications cover what beats. We know which contacts still respond and which inboxes are dead.

We're not pretending to understand PR. We've lived on the other side of it. That's the difference.

What founders say

From the beta

I pitched 15 journalists on a Monday. Had 3 replies by Wednesday. One turned into a YourStory feature.

A

Ankit Sharma

Co-founder @ PayFlow

The journalist database alone is worth it. I found journalists covering our exact niche that I'd never heard of.

M

Meera Krishnan

Founder @ EduTrack

Agencies like us need this. Managing 8 clients' PR in one place, without sharing journalist contacts between clients — finally.

R

Rahul Verma

Director @ PitchRight PR

For PR agencies

Replace your Google Sheets workflow. Without losing what makes you valuable.

Use our database, or bring your own. Either way, you get ten things no spreadsheet can do.

Multi-client workspaces

One org → many client folders. Switch between Acme Corp and Beta Ltd without losing context.

Junior drafts → senior approves

Built-in approval workflow. Junior team writes, senior signs off, then sends. No more 'forward this for review'.

Inline comments on pitches

Slack-style threads on every draft. No more emailing screenshots back and forth.

Client portal — your IP stays yours

Client logs in, sees campaign progress, opens, replies, coverage. Cannot see your journalist contacts. White-label optional.

Cross-client analytics

Which beats convert for B2B SaaS clients vs D2C brands? Pivot tables you can't build in a sheet.

Auto follow-ups

3-day, 7-day, 14-day cadence. Cancels automatically when journalist replies. Sheets cannot do this.

AI pitch personalisation

Each journalist gets a tailored email referencing their past coverage. Not even close to possible in a sheet.

Auto open + reply tracking

See who opened, who replied, who never read it. No more guessing who to follow up with.

Time saved per campaign

10 minutes from upload → 50 personalised pitches sent. Manual workflow takes 2 hours.

Frequently asked

Things people ask before they sign up

How is this different from Olivia Brown / AI PR tools?

Olivia Brown writes the press release AND the email AND sends thousands of generic pitches that journalists openly call spam. DIYPR is the opposite: you write the press release, AI only personalises the cover email, and we hard-cap one pitch per journalist per month. We're built by publishers — not against them.

Why send from my own Gmail?

Three reasons. (1) Your existing sender reputation = better deliverability than any cold-email tool. (2) When journalists reply, the conversation happens in YOUR inbox, threaded normally. (3) Journalists trust an email from your real address far more than from a relay service.

Can I see the journalist list before signing up?

After waitlist invite. We don't publish the list because that's what makes DIYPR valuable — and because journalists don't want their contacts scraped onto every random tool's homepage.

I'm a PR agency with my own contacts. Can I use those?

Yes. Upload a CSV. Tag, segment, run campaigns per client. Our master DB and your private DB live side-by-side — your contacts are visible only to your team.

What if a journalist asks to be removed?

They email privacy@diypr.in, we confirm identity, mark them inactive across all customer accounts within 30 days. Built-in, not an afterthought.

Will you sell or share my data?

No. Your press releases, contacts, and pitch content are yours. We never train AI on them, never sell them, never share with anyone — including StartupTalky's editorial team.

What does the AI actually cost me?

Each plan includes a generous monthly pitch quota. We cap costs hard so you never get a surprise bill. Going over the quota = upgrade prompt, not silent overcharges.

When does this launch?

Private beta is rolling out to the first 50 waitlist members from the StartupTalky audience. Public launch follows once we've validated the core flow.
